Main Floor

Last week I told you about our small but mighty hallway that leads from the garage to the kitchen with doorways to Mike's office, the laundry room, the half bath and the pantry. Well now we'll finally make it into the main part of the house!

This first picture is what you see as you are in the hall with the door to the garage behind you. Straight ahead is the kitchen island and you can see beyond it into the dinette and off to the right, the living room.

This is the view from the dinette back toward the hall that leads to the garage. We essentially have two front doors. The main door is actually on the side of our house, facing the garage and driveway and you can see it to the left of the refrigerator, near the steps to go upstairs. I love this layout so much. It's so open and friendly, but each room has definition.

Here is the living room. The far door, to the right of the fire place, leads to the master bedroom. To the right of those windows you can just see the edge of the (not main) front door. It's mostly for looks. ;) And access to our front porch which still needs a little work, but is quickly becoming a favorite place.

We have so many things to hang on the walls. But the walls are so different here it's taking me some time to figure out where I want things. It will feel so much more like home when we get pictures of the kids up on the walls. And rugs. Rugs will help tremendously.

This is what you see when you walk into our room. This is nice because we don't feel we have to close the door all the time since you don't really see directly into our bedroom.

It should go without saying that this is the master bath. So relaxing.
