It's a start!

It's so exciting to see some progress! Mike got to work starting the framing as soon as he had time after the basement was done and the inspection passed. Mike used to be a framer, so this is the part of the house he was really looking forward to working on. Unfortunately, he's so busy with the 5th Annual TJ Sommers Memorial Tournament this weekend and with his regular work, that he won't have time to do much else. Thankfully, he found a framer to help with most of the rest of the house. He still wants to do the stairs and I'm sure he'll jump in on as much as he can.

This last weekend, he got the back wall of the basement done, the garage walls up and the first floor laid.
Here are the kids mid-week in the basement. I am standing up on the front porch area looking down on them. They look so tiny!
I climbed up on one of the dirt piles in the back yard to snap this picture of Mike. It's hard to see here, but he's walking across the joists without plywood on top of them. He likes to freak me out. He said he's been walking on joists since he was Corban's age and tried to get Corban to join him. Thankfully Corban has a bit of his mom's cautious personality in him and he quickly declined. However, Sydney came running over begging to try. Um, NO.
Soon, Sydney found that she could hit pipes with shims and make "beautiful" music. This however, was much preferred to the kids' previous game of rebar-light sabers. Also, um, NO.
Here's a picture I snapped of the kids sitting on the back wall of the garage. I'm near that same dirt pile as above, in the back yard. The garage is the area with the walls on the right and the rest of the house goes off to the left.
And, finally, here are the kids sitting in a window opening for the basement. It won't be a walk-out, but it will have some nice, natural light.
