Beautiful Butterflies

On Tuesday we met up with some friends and headed to Beech Creek Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve. I have heard about visiting the butterfly house before but we had never taken the time to go. Summer is rapidly coming to an end so we squeezed out a little more fun before we have to pack lunches and back packs.

As the name implies, this is much more than just a butterfly house. There are gardens and trails and lots for kids to explore and learn. We first went into the Amazing Garden “Exploratorium” where the kids saw how plants grow and got to see plants that responded to their touch. They loved the baby turtle swimming around and watching a model train run through miniature gardens. But we almost couldn’t tear them away from the Stream Table where they learned about water flow. Mostly, I think they liked playing in the mud. Winking smile

Then we walked down to the butterfly house – the highlight for sure!

When you feed the butterflies they will crawl onto the Q-tip and you can get them on your hand.

Corban didn’t even need to feed this one to get it to land on him!
