The Potty Train and the Poopy Car

You can just tell by the title it's good times in our house, can't you? Jared finally decided he was ready to potty train. It was like what he was supposed to do on that giant white chair finally clicked for him. I decided to just jump right in last Monday and put him in underwear. Pull-ups would confuse me, too, although we do use them for nap and bed times. He had some accidents Monday and Tuesday and he had two Wednesday morning and that was it! Jared seems to love keeping his undies dry! Woo-hoo! He's even done well when we've been out and about. For both my boys, though, the poop part has been a little harder to figure out. For Corban, it took quite a while. We finally came up with the idea of the "Poopy Car". We bought him 6 little cars and a little plastic display case and set them in the bathroom. When he pooped (sorry if you don't like that word! It's just been what we use) on the potty he got a car. If he pooped in his pants he had to pick a poopy car to put back. For Corban, that only happened once. He was so devastated about putting that car back (and he just told me the other day which one it was, too) that he learned right there where his poopy went. :) Only a mom can have such a conversation and feel it's normal. Anyhow. We never had to do that with Sydney. She just didn't want to wear diapers any more. So, for Jared, we picked out some cool cars. So far, he has had to put one back but he has 3 right now, so he's on his way! He is still figuring it out a little bit, so he likes to hold his blanky and puppy (sort of gross, but whatever works!) when he's working for a poopy car.

Here he is after getting his first poopy car, a Mustang! He is so happy! He is trying so hard to smile around those M&Ms he also gets as a treat.

So now after more than 6 straight years, NO MORE DIAPERS!!!!!
