It's Fall, Y'all!

Because apparently that's what they say in the South. It's all over my Instagram feed so it must be true.

Anyhow, we don't take Fall lightly around here. But mostly Fall means soccer. A lot of soccer. So not much happens around here other than soccer until late October. I used to wait until The Soccer Crazy was over to visit the pumpkin farm but that always resulted in cold, dark evenings chasing kids in winter coats, hats, gloves, and runny noses through a petting zoo after walking through mud to pick out pumpkins. Which often resulted in tears (not just for the kids) and extra loads of laundry. So, basically, a lot of awesome. Except the opposite.

So the last few years I have made the worthwhile effort to get us to the pumpkin farm in the first couple weeks of October, even if that means Corban is wearing his soccer uniform while feeding the goats and sheep. But we're warm(er). Usually. And there are far fewer tears now.

Also. Since when did going to the pumpkin farm become a thing you dress up for? Apparently since the advent of Instagram because all the teen girls were there in their trendiest skinny jeans, scarves, and hats (Yes. Seriously.) taking selfies with their food truck snacks. It's an event, y'all.

FYI: You must know Sydney is in her glory with all these animals

I also wanted to add a little update on The Move. Again, it seems from the outside that not much is happening but Mike has had 3 trips down since our last family trip at the end of Summer, working on a new building. He is also working hard to get our house ready to sell in a few months. That feels crazy and a little more real on our end. Mike took the camper back down and left it at a small campground near Apex where we'll leave it at least until the end of December. At which point Mike would like to start house hunting. Hold me. I am excited for the move, but those big (and expensive) parts of the process tend to put me back in bed. The kids and I will be joining Mike on his next trip down, though, and we are getting excited! N.C. already feels so much like home!

  1. Love your thoughts on Fall and the "joys" of cold weather + pumpkin patches! Praying for y'all during this exciting but very scary time! I get it, so call anytime you're feeling overwhelmed! ❤
