Birthday Boy and Zoo Explorers

Summer break has barely started and we've hit the ground running. Mike's parents were in town last week so we took the opportunity to visit the Cleveland Zoo. We think it's probably been about 5 or 6 years since we were there last.

They were finishing up the Elephant Crossing when we were there last and we didn't get to see any elephants. This year we arrived just in time to see them moving the elephants from one yard to another. What a treat!

This boy turned 12 on Monday! I can hardly believe it!

We had some of his friends over on Saturday for a birthday party. Mike worked hard to get the outside ready for them. The weather cooperated and we were able to keep the boys outside the whole time. Later, Sydney even asked if she could have her party in the garage, too! Ha! We now have a soccer kick wall and basketball hoop. Hopefully we'll get concrete in the driveway one of these days. The boys also had a kickball game and we made s'mores at the end of the evening over the fire pit. We did a pinata, which I would not entirely recommend doing with 11-12 year old boys. They are strong. And competitive. And they like candy. They had a blast but the adults were glad everyone just survived!

Jared is still in full swing in the baseball season and after a recent win the team was super excited to finally get some ice cream after the game!

Mike finished the front porch posts which makes a huge difference on how the house looks. I snagged a picture the day of Corban's party. We still need to finish the steps, sidewalk and driveway, but it looks like a home people live in, not one that is still under construction. Yay!
