Wrapping things up

Well, the school year is winding down. Well, it actually feels like it is spiraling out of control and I think we are all ready for a little bit more of a laid back pace. Tomorrow is the kids' last day of school. That means Corban's birthday is coming soon. And our nephew is graduating which also means family will be in town staying with us. So, the next few weeks will still be busy, but a fun, different kind of busy.

Our focus (well, Mike's mostly) has officially turned to working on the outside of the house. A lawn company just stopped by to give us a quote. I'm sure I'll have to sit down for that. Mike finished the posts on the front porch. It's subtle, but now the house finally looks finished. Soon we will be putting some concrete down in the driveway. Hopefully then we'll be able to add a basketball hoop, too. The boys are begging for it and we used to have one that we used quite a bit. Now that the boys are a couple years older, I know it will get a ton of use. But the biggest project Mike did was add a wall in our back yard.

Don't you wish you could be our neighbor? Ha! It's actually a soccer kick wall. We were deciding between a goal and a wall and from what the soccer players in the family tell me, a wall is much better because the ball rebounds to you and you are not constantly going after it. OK. Whatever it takes to get the kids outside.

Jared also had his piano recital. He's the same age Corban was when Corban played, but he's apparently much smaller because his teacher had him sit on a pillow and put a stool under his feet. Little Guy. He did really well, considering getting him to practice was like pulling teeth. Jared has an ear for music and I was so proud to see him sitting up there. It wasn't perfect, but when he messed up he figured it out and kept right on going. That's what counts.
