Pale Beach Bums

I finally went through and edited about a million pictures we took on vacation. I'll spare you and share just about 1,000 here. I kid. But still. Be thankful a picture is worth a thousand words because today I am saving you HOURS.
We left the morning after the last day of school. To break the trip up a bit, on our way down to North Carolina we spent Friday night in Jamestown. We had some time and the kids were antsy from sitting in the truck all day, so we found a mini golf place and had a fun little evening. The sign in front was so perfect!

It's been a few years since we've made it to Hatteras Island, and we were so excited to be back.
Corban is trying his best to hold the lighthouse in the palm of his hand.

We went up in the lighthouse Sunday morning, our first full day in Hatteras. The winds were hitting 30 miles an hour while we were at the top and they were planning on shutting the lighthouse down that day because of wind. The windblown look is one thing, but this was entirely different!

Our second day we went down to Ocracoke. It was an absolutely beautiful day and the crowds were light since it was early in the week. We brought our bikes down and did a fair amount of riding around both on Ocracoke and Hatteras Islands. So awesome!

I love Sydney's heart for God.
She wrote, "Jesus is Lord, C[h]rist, and my God." So sweet!

See? Pale. Very pale. We nearly remedied that this week, though.

We also had a chance to meet up with a friend of mine and her two kids who are Corban and Sydney's age. They hit it off immediately, like they'd known each other all their lives. So fun!

We met them at Ft. Raleigh, near Manteo. We made it just in time for an Indian face painting demonstration. They were either showing their Indian toughness or were entirely not impressed. :/

We loved Ocracoke so much we went back another day later in the week. However, the weather wasn't quite as beautiful this day and the wind was again showing its force. Jared's hair was flat when we left that morning! Who knew the wind had such taste in hair?
