The Armor of God

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when they day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. ~Ephesians 6:7
Corban's teacher was teaching the kids about this passage in scripture. She realized she had everything in this passage to use as a visual for the students except the helmet of salvation. So, she went to her friend who is an art teacher at another Christian school and asked if her students might like to do a project. Those students, 6th graders, each made a helmet for a student in Corban's class, and as they worked on the helmets, they prayed for the student they were making the helmet for. Then, last week, those students came to Corban's class and gave them the helmets and did an art project with them. When I heard about this it brought tears to my eyes. What an amazing lesson for these kindergartners! Not only do they get to learn in a very visual way about God's word and how it is affective in our lives, but they got to see older kids praying for them and showing them an example of how to live Godly lives. Corban was so excited about his helmet! All weekend he has been trying to explain the armor of God to Sydney and Jared, too! I am so thankful for Corban and his heart but I am also very thankful that his kindergarten teacher is such a Godly women.
